I know selecting any one between them will not be an easy decision, as both apps offer many amazing features. But, still, I compare different features of Spotify and Joox box, to have a better understanding. I used both apps personally, and find Spotify superior to Joox over many features.

Spotify is a Swedish music-streaming service, that was launched in Europe in 2008, while Joox Music is comparatively a new music app, launched in 2015 by Tencent. So, we can say, Spotify is famous in Europe and Joox Music is ruling in Asia, like Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

However, it took one year to reach 1 million subscribers on Spotify while Joox got two billion streams within two years. However, Joox is a new app but due to its unique features, it is giving tough competition to Spotify, is it right?

Currently, Spotify has 406 million active Subscribers, which is a lot more than Joox Music. By now, I am sure you may have guessed, who is the winner app, right? If not, keep reading as by the end you will know with reasons. 

To help you find the best music app and save you time, below is the result of my comparison between Spotify and Joox Music.

In the audio quality war between the two apps, I found Spotify was again one step ahead of Joox, by offering 5 different audio qualities to its listeners. So, you can select the one that best suits your internet connection and package.

With Spotify, you can listen to low audio quality with the free plan, which is around 24-96 kbps, and with the paid plan enjoy 320 kbps.

On the other side, Joox does not offer such a variety of audio quality options but provides a few basic plans. Like, with the free version you can listen to music at 96 kbps while with Joox Music VIP, you can enjoy music at 320 kbps, which is similar to Spotify.

Winner: In the audio quality contest, Spotify is the ultimate winner.

While doing a Spotify and Joox app comparison, I was shocked to see that Joox was leading at many points from Spotify.

The initial plan of both apps is almost the same, which is freemium through which you can listen to unlimited songs and music with the display of disturbing ads. However, Spotify shows music ads that disturb your song’s listening but Joox Music, being a smart one, shows banner ads.

In the paid subscription, Joox Music also wins by offering economical price plans. Although, it offers 2 price plans they are cheaper than Spotify’s 4 price plans. The Joox individual plan is for $2.7 / month and the family plan is for $3.94 / month.

But Joox does not offer various packages for different individuals, which Spotify has, such as Spotify Duo, Spotify Kids, Student Package, and many others.

Winner: There is a tie between the two apps related to the pricing because Joox offers low prices but it has limited plans while Spotify offers a variety of packages for different individuals.

Although Spotify has an amazing algorithm for music recommendation, Joox also offers many advanced features to its users to listen to the latest songs. These features include Editor’s Pick, New Releases, Radio Features, and Featured Artists. However, all these features will suggest music on general recommendations.

Spotify uses an advanced AI-based algorithm that will suggest songs according to your likes, dislikes, and the history of artists and songs you often listen to. The songs recommending options of Spotify are Release Radar, Daily Mixes, Discover Weekly, and Made For You. 

Moreover, the addition of AI-Dj in Spotify works as a cherry on top.

Winner: Obviously, Spotify is the winner again by providing many music discovery options.

Spotify and Joox both apps provide you with an option to stay connected with your friends and family while listening to songs. So, now songs will never detach you from your loved ones. You must be wondering, how is this possible?

So, let me tell you that both apps allow the option of music sharing with friends, you can share your favorite music or the one you listen to the most with your friends or on social media platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram. It is a similar feature on both apps, but there is a twist that makes Spotify superior to Joox Music.

With the Friends Activity option, you can check what latest songs or podcasts your friends are listening to. Moreover, with the Collaborative Playlist, you can create a custom playlist with your friends and get the latest music news from there, aren’t these features amazing?

Joox Music also tried to compete with Spotify, by giving the feature of Karaoke, through which you can sing a song with your close friend.

Winner: By offering the option of friends activity and collaborative playlist, Spotify scores a goal and wins at this war.  

Spotify and Joox Music both provide an option for multiple device connection, such as Android, iOS, Windows, and macOS. But, Spotify seems to take the lead by offering connection to various other devices like Smartwatches, Smart TVs, and gaming consoles, which Joox does not allow.

However, both devices offer almost similar device compatibility but do you know, where the twist is? Yes! It is in the app availability. Spotify is available in almost 184 countries, which makes it the most used music app globally. However, Joox is only available in a few Asian countries, such as Thailand and Hong Kong. After 2022, it was restricted in many countries due to unknown reasons.

Winner: As always, Spotify again won from the Joox Music. Maybe it will be the reason for Joox’s restriction in many countries as it offers limited features compared to other popular apps.

After doing a thorough comparison of the features of both apps, it will be clear to you why Spotify is preferred over the Joox Music app. However, despite being the new app, Joox tried its best to compete with Spotify but failed to do so.

Spotify, due to its different features, like audio quality, flexible price plans, and much more brings revolution in the music industry. All these are the positive points of Spotify, which force me to download this app and enhance my music listening journey.
