Spotify Vs Gaana: The Best Music App Waiting For You
Introduction
In the evolving world of the music industry, hundreds of apps come and go in comparison to Spotify. But, Spotify being a strong music app, remains steadfast and maintains its top position.
Now, let’s have a Spotify Vs Gaana music app comparison, to find the best music app for yourself. However, as for my experience with many music apps, I already know my decision, but this comparison is for you. The various features I compared in this research are price plans, compatibility, audio quality, and many more.
Let’s find out which app I find the best and who wins in the comparison between the two best music-streaming apps.
Spotify Vs Gaana
Before making a comparison, I always found it necessary to have a basic knowledge of the apps that are being judged because it will help you to make a more accurate decision. So, here is what I found.
Spotify is a Swedish music-streaming service, that came into the market in 2008, whereas, Gaana is a younger sister of Spotify because it was launched in 2010. Gaana is an Indian Music app and has been ruling in the Indian music industry since its release.
Spotify has the owner of having, more active users which is around 406 million, while Gaana lost from Spotify with just 150 million active users, which are mainly from India. However, both apps share many similar features, such as various price plans, audio quality, and much more.
Comparison of Spotify and Gaana Music app
Here, is the explanation of the features, I find in my Spotify Vs Gaana comparison.
User-interface
Both apps, Spotify and Gaana have a user-friendly interface that attracts most of the audiences. But in comparison, I found Spotify on the top.
The black and green color theme of Spotify gives it a neat and clean design, that is easy to use and understand by all users. On the other hand, I think, Gaana has a confusing interface, with orange and white colors. These colors give it a funky look.
On the desktop version of Spotify, you will see the options of Home, Library, Search, and Create Playlist, on the left sidebar. That means you can easily access all the options on Spotify, whereas, Gaana does not give all the options on the Home screen.
With Spotify, you can easily access your custom playlist, with the “Your Library” section. Gaana does not have this option, but you can search for your favorite music with the search bar given on the front.
Both apps give the option of “sign in” on the top-right corner of the screen.
Winner: Spotify is the winner of the interface round, as it has a decent color combination and easily accessible features.
Audio Quality
In the audio quality test, both apps stand almost in the same place, it is due to various reasons. Let’s discuss them!
In the free version, Spotify and Gaana offer audio quality between the lowest to mid-range. You can listen to your favorite song at audio quality between 64 kbps to 128 kbps, with the free version of Gaana. However, with the free version of Spotify, you can enjoy listening to music between 24 to 160 kbps range
So, Spotify offers better audio quality than Gaana in the free plan. However, with the Plus plan, Gaana has a better audio quality of 192 kbps, which Spotify does not have.
But at the premium plan, both apps again have the same audio quality, which is 320 kbps. Up til now, both apps share almost the same audio quality, but the twist is in the Spotify Hi-Fi feature.
Audio Quality | Spotify | Gaana |
Low | 24 kbps | 64 kbps |
Normal | 96 kbps | 128 kbps |
High | 160 kbps | 192 kbps |
Very High | 320 kbps | 320 kbps |
Winner: Of course! Spotify is the winner by offering the Spotify Hi-Fi feature, which allows you to listen to songs at high resolution.
Price Plans
When comparing the prices, again selecting any one music app is tough, as both apps offer economical prices with various features.
First of all, let’s see their freemium version. Both apps offer a freemium version, with this version you can listen to unlimited songs with a few restrictions, such as advertisements, limited song skips, and shuffle.
But, if you want to listen to your favorite song with premium features, you should subscribe to the premium plan. However, the premium plan of Gaana apparently looks cheaper but deep analysis turns the table.
Do you want to know, how? Gaana costs 99 INR monthly and 999 INR yearly, on the other side, Spotify will charge you 118 INR monthly and almost 1200 INR yearly, right? But, the twist happens when we observe their premium features, Spotify offers more features than Gaana, and better audio quality as well.
With the Student and personal plans, Spotify also offers flexible price plans for family members, like Spotify Family, Spotify Duo, and Spotify Kids.
Spotify Price Plan | Gaana Price Plan |
Spotify Free$0/ month | Gaana Free$0 /Month |
Premium Individual$10.99/ month | Premium Individual$2 / month |
Premium Students$5.99/ month | Premium Student$1.80/ month |
Premium Family$17.99/ month | |
Premium Duo/ Kids$14.99/ month |
Winner: Due to flexible price plans and more offers, Spotify again won the game.
Device Compatibility
In the device compatibility test, Gaana has already lost the game due to its area restriction and a few device connection options. Gaana being an Indian music app, provides more music from the Bollywood and regional area. On the other side, Spotify does not offer you any area restriction, as it is available in more than 180 countries.
You also have the option to connect your Spotify music app with multiple devices, such as Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, and many others. Moreover, you can also connect your Gaana music app with these devices.
But as we know, Spotify is the best music app, so how is it possible that it offers any feature less or equal to any other music app? For this purpose, Spotify extends its device compatibility, by offering a device connection with gaming consoles, Smart TVs, Smartwatches, and many other advanced apps.
Winner: Spotify once again scored a point in the device compatibility war.
Language Support
As we know, Spotify has become an international music app, with availability in almost 180 countries, it supports all major languages. However, with the Gaana music app, you will have limited language options because it is an Indian music app.
The Gaana app is for you if you love listening to all Bollywood super-hit songs and music tracks. With this app, you can listen to all the Hindi and related content.
No matter, if you don’t like Hindi songs, with the Gaana app, you can switch to other languages as well, like Tamil, Bengali, Dogri, and many others. However, the negative point of this app is that it mostly supports Indian content.
Winner: Spotify supports multiple languages than Gaana, so, it is the winning app.
