Spotify Vs JioSaavan: Which Music App is Best in 2024?
Introduction
However, I was listening to my favorite music and enjoying my time with the Spotify music streaming app, but after the launch and hype of JioSaavan, I decided to give this app a chance to spell magic in my music library.
So, after downloading and using JioSaavan with Spotify, I deleted one music app, as I found another better. Want to know which music-streaming app I throw into the delete folder? So, first have a look at my Spotify Vs JioSaavan comparison, to know the background of my decision.
Let’s compare the major features of Spotify and JioSaavan to learn which music app is holding the attention of a wider audience and has been downloaded by millions.
Spotify Vs JioSaavan
As I have already told you I have been using Spotify for a long time, therefore I know a lot about this amazing music app. Basically, it is a Swedish music-streaming service which was launched in 2008. For its comparison, I started collecting information about JiaSaavan.
I found that JioSaavan is a combination of two different music apps, one is the Saavan, which was launched in 2007, whereas the other was JioMusic. These apps were hand-shook in December 2018 and became Asia’s largest music-streaming service.
I would like to add more interesting information by saying that Spotify and JioSaavan are freemium services, which means you can listen to songs for free but with advertisements, and can also buy a purchase plan if you want to improve your listening habits.
Both apps contain soundtracks and music in millions, however, JioSaavan specifically focuses on Indian music and offers music in 16 different languages. Whereas, Spotify covers music content globally and provides music for listeners all over the world.
I know, still, you are confused, about which music app is better and why, so I am keeping this as a surprise for you.
Comparing Features of Spotify and JioSaavan
Here is a comparison of features between Spotify and JioSaavan music apps:
Sound Quality
When listening to music, how it can be possible we ignore sound quality, right? This is the main feature I notice about the music apps and normally make my decision. So, for this reason, I compared the sound quality of both apps.
Of course, Spotify was leading the way by offering 5 different audio qualities to users, whereas, the bitrate of JioSaavan is not out in the market yet. However, JioSaavan strives its best to provide good sound effects to its listeners and improve their listening experience.
However, the Sound quality of Spotify includes 24 kbps at low range and 320 kbps at the premium plan. The only negative side of Spotify’s audio quality is that it does not offer HiFi- audio effects.
The table of Spotify audio quality is given for your convenience:
Audio Quality | Spotify |
Low | 24 kbps |
Normal | 96 kbps |
High | 160 kbps |
Very High | 320 kbps |
HD quality | Not available |
Ultra-HD quality | Not available |
Price Plan
Having the know-how about price plans of the music app you are going to use is also extremely important. As it will help you to make a wise decision and save your money from wasting.
Both music apps, Spotify and JioSaavan have a freemium plan, what does it mean? It means you can enjoy your favorite music, podcasts, and much more for free but with the display of ads or many other restrictions.
On Spotify’s free plan, you cannot enjoy unlimited song skips and shuffle, however on JioSaavan, you are limited to no skip option at all.
Further, in my comparison, I found that Spotify offers more flexible price plans than JioSaavan, with Spotify you can have Spotify Family, Spotify Student, Spotidy Kids, and many other options. But JioSaavan fails to offer multiple price plans.
Platform | Spotify |
Free tier | Yes, but ads-supported |
Premium Individual | $9.99/ month |
Premium Family | $15.99/ month |
Premium Student | $4.99/ month |
Alternatives | Spotify Duo and Spotify Kids$12.99/ month |
User Interface
Both apps, Spotify and JioSaavan, promise to provide you with a user-friendly interface and easy navigation options. These apps provide a neat and clean interface, which makes it easy to use no matter if you are a technology lover or not.
I used both apps and when I opened the Spotify interface, it showed a black and green color theme and various options on the left side. This option will make your navigation to the latest music easy.
If you want to sign in to the app, then you will see a sign-in button on the top right corner of the screen, it is similar to the JioSaavan music app, which has also provided its sign-in button on the top right corner.
JioSaavan has a cool color theme, which is white and light blue, moreover, like Spotify, it also has a navigation bar on the left side, where it shows the option of Top Charts, Top Artists, Top Releases, Podcast, Radio, and much more. So, long story short, both apps have almost similar interfaces and both are easy to use, therefore, there is a tie at this point.
Music and Content
I already know, who is the winner in music and content comparison, but for surety, let’s have a look at it. Spotify has more than 90 million song collections from different genres and categories, whereas, JioSaavan offers only 45 million music, specifically from Bollywood and regional content.
However, 45 million is also not a small number but in comparison with Spotify, it looks like a water drop in an ocean. Spotify will give you music content from all over the world, on the other hand, JioSaavan, has restrictions. Moreover, the music discovery feature of Spotify is also stronger than JioSaavan. The option of Release Radar, Discover Weekly, My Mixes, and many others gives you an opportunity to listen to the latest songs.
Geographic Availability
In the availability war, Spotify is leading the way, as it is available in more countries than JioSaavan, which is only available in a few countries with India being a major target.
What makes Spotify a worldwide famous music app? Of Course, it’s available in more than 180 countries. No matter where you live, or what’s your preferred music category or language, Spotify will provide you with all types of content to make your mood better.
On the other hand, JioSaavan being an Indian music app, is mainly found there and in countries around it. Moreover, provides content only in 16 different languages, of which many are Indian or its regional languages, such as Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Bengali, Telugu, and many others.
So, in the geographical war, Spotify won and acquired more countries’ availability as compared to JioSaavan.
Conclusion
As I already told you above I was using Spotify for a long time and the hype of JioSaavan on the internet forces me to check this app. So, I decided to give this app a chance. However, after comparing the features of Spotify and JioSaavan, I found that I am on the right track with Spotify.
Spotify meets my all music requirements, like it has more music content than JioSaavan, the music discovery option is also more powerful, and it offers more options in its premium plans.
Moreover, with Spotify, you will also have the option to share your favorite song with your friends, with the social sharing option. All these features, make Spotify my favorite music app.
